Mission
Growing in God, Learning to Love, Welcoming All
Vision
We are a church planted in the soil of the Southern Downs and deeply rooted in the Word of God. Our history holds both times of abundance and times of drought, but we are
being revived again by Jesus Christ. We understand Jesus to be the fulfilment, focus and priority of the Bible’s unfolding story concerning God and humanity.
We celebrate each other’s uniqueness, while enjoying unity as the body of God’s church. We share a vision grown from shared experience as a church family; a vision of renewal
through the generous grace of our God. We are growing healthy relationships together and being nourished by God’s Word and His Spirit. The Spirit of God is transforming our lives. We are learning to model the servant leadership of Jesus to each other. We share in the work of the church, growing in God and enjoying the growth of others. We commit ourselves to each other as a family under God, for the growth of His kingdom.
We want to live lives of confidence in Jesus’ saving grace, shining hope to an anxiousculture. By our words and our actions, we want to reflect the freedom and joy found in following Jesus. We want to share his love, mercy and favour with everyone, and we welcome anyone to come and discover the joy we have found.
Convictions
At Rose City Presbyterian Church, we want to be straight with you about the convictions God has given us:
1) Listening to Jesus (Luke 4:18-19 and 43; John 6:68, Luke 8:1)
God calls us to listen to the good news of His Son, Jesus Christ, in the Bible. In Jesus we find forgiveness of sin, freedom from guilt, courage in fear and cleansing of shame. We
listen to Jesus in the Bible, we learn from Jesus in the Bible, and we point each other to Jesus by gathering in church – around the Bible.
2) Gathering for Worship (Psalm 33, Ephesians 5:19, Colossians 3:16)
God calls each of us to worship Him with our life, but also to worship Him as a church. We are down-to-earth people who love coming together to worship our living God!
3) Practising Prayer (Philippians 4:6-7, Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17)
God calls us to devote ourselves to prayer, so we are a people who love to pray. Prayer is our lifeline to God the Father. We love to pray together, and to discipline ourselves to praying daily.
4) Growing Deep and Wide (Acts 2:42-47, 1 Thessalonians 5:11, John 13:34-35)
God calls us to be a growing church family, growing deeper as we mature in relationships and growing wider as we welcome and include others in.
5) Getting Healthy Relationally (Colossians 3, Ephesians 4:15-16, Hebrews 10:24)
God calls us to grow-up in our individual relationships in church and at home. Relationships are where God transforms us into the people He wants us to be.
6) Becoming People of Purpose (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4:16)
God calls each of us to find our purpose in this church, united in His purpose to seek and save the lost. Our purpose together is to share the good news of Jesus Christ in our homes, church and community.
7) Serving Each-other (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1:5-9, Philippians 2:3-11)
God calls us to serve one-another, in this local church, governed by servant-hearted elders and growing through servant-hearted members. As His servant-hearted church, we also share accountability with our sister churches across the Darling Downs.
8) Living by Grace (John 17, Colossians 3:12-17)
God has graciously called us to Him by the redeeming love of Jesus and the transforming love of His Spirit. Because God has saved us by His good news of grace, we can be gracious with each-other about everything else.
9) Partnering in Ministry (Galatians 1:6-12, 3 John 1:8, Mark 9:38-40)
God calls us to joyfully partner in ministry with other churches who share our convictions, and to be thankful for the shared ministry of the good news of Jesus Christ.
10) Being Boldly Hopeful in an Anxious World (Romans 8, Acts 17:16-34,1 Thess. 5)
In an anxious world, God calls us to live boldly with a sure and certain hope, grounded in the life, death, resurrection, ascension and coming-return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
