What to Expect
If you come along to our church service, you’ll find a contemporary, family-and-newcomer-friendly service every Sunday, where the Word of God is preached, the gospel proclaimed, and hearts are encouraged. You might hear something that challenges you, that makes you consider how you are living your life. That’s what happens when you encounter Jesus – He changes your life!
We believe that community is important – we were not created to be alone. After our service each week we hang around for good coffee, enjoying each other’s company.
Here’s a plan of what you might expect at one of our services at Rose City:
Welcome
Opening Word (Reading 1)
Song
Song
Prayer of Praise and Confession
Family Update
Short Break (we have a chat while children who’d like to go to Kids Church)
Song
Prayer of Thanks and Request
Bible Reading (Reading 2)
Bible Talk
Song
Closing Word (Reading 3)
The whole service goes for about 75 minutes and is usually lead by Pastor Dave, one of our elders or someone else who has been asked to lead for the week. Pastor Dave does most of our Bible Talks. We have men and women who contribute to other parts of our service in many different ways through prayer, reading the Bible, welcoming, helping with Kids Church, leading us in singing during the service or being a barista at morning tea. These are roles which are organised and filled before our Sunday gathering so if you’re a newcomer you’re not expected to serve impromptu.
Everyone is welcome to Rose City Presbyterian Church. If you’ve been in church your whole life, or never set foot in one – you’re welcome. If you are a large family or a single person, a divorcee or a couple, young or old – you’re welcome. Our mission is ‘Growing in God. Learning to Love. Welcoming All.’
